About Npass
A study app that respects the hours you put in.
Npass 日本語 is built for people working toward the JLPT on their own, mostly on a phone, mostly in the gaps of a normal day.
Why 夢
The app opens on 夢, the character for a dream, written with a brush and revealed the way ink soaks into paper. It is the first thing you see and the first kanji the website writes, stroke by stroke, using the same open stroke-order data the app teaches from.
How it is built
The next action comes first
Open the app and the top card already says what to do: start, continue, or take the test. Deciding what to study is the tax that ends most study habits, so Npass pays it for you.
Trusted content before generated content
Meanings, examples and audio are generated once and then shared across everyone who needs them. Nothing is paid for twice, and the second learner to reach a word gets it instantly.
Progress you can carry
Study data is written to the device first and queued for sync, so a subway ride still counts and a new phone starts where the old one stopped.
Not everyone studies Japanese through English.
Npass can give word meanings in 14 languages, and the interface itself is translated into six. Learners in Myanmar, Nepal and Vietnam were part of the reason this app exists, not an afterthought bolted on later.

Npass 日本語 is made by NAY KO KO OO, trading as Ciel Labs. Support, privacy questions and bug reports all reach the same inbox, and the same person answers them.
